چکیده

The present work deals with the transferability of Friction Riveting joining technology from laboratory equipment to adapted in-house, low-cost machinery. A G13 drilling machine was modified for requirements selected technique, and joints were performed using polyethermide plates AA2024 aluminum alloy rivets 6 mm diameter. This diameter not previously reported Riveting. produced mechanically tested under tensile loading (pullout tests) ultimate forces 9500 ± 900 N. All specimens failed through full-rivet pullout, which is weakest joint in In order understand this behavior, FE models created analyzed. agreement experimental results, failure initiated within polymer stress concentrations polymeric material above deformed metallic anchor at an value 878 MPa surface joint. Stresses decreased less than half maximum around anchoring zone while rivet removed towards surface. paper thus demonstrates potential ease applying reproducing simple machinery, contributing understanding mechanical behavior (initialization failure) joints.

Numerical Crack Growth Analysis in AA2024-T3 Friction Stir Welded Butt Joints

This paper deals with a numerical investigation on the influence of residual stresses on fatigue crack growth in AA2024-T3 friction stir welded butt joints. The computational approach is based on the coupled usage of the finite element method (FEM) and the dual boundary element method (DBEM), in order to take advantage of the main capabilities of the two methods. Linear elastic FE simulations a...

Efect of Variations of Riveting Process on the Quality of Riveted Joints

This thesis presents a study of the effect of controllable riveting parameters, mainly squeeze force, rivet length, rivet diameter tolerance, hole countersunk depth and hole diameter tolerance, on the quality of formed rivet. The quality of a formed rivet is determined by the geometry of its head formation and the extent to which the hole is filled. The study determines maximum allowable tolera...

Effect of friction stir welding parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of dissimilar AA2024-AA6061 joints

In the present study, to resolve the problems in fusion welding methods as well as to increase the strength, FSW method was used to join aluminum alloy sheets 6061 and 2024. Moreover, optimal parameters for joining of these two alloys were also taken into consideration. Various tool rotation speeds of 565, 950 and 1500 rpm were selected. For each tool rotation speed, two traverse speed variable...

Thermo-Mechanical Finite Element Modeling of the Friction Drilling Process

Friction drilling uses a rotating conical tool to penetrate the workpiece and create a bushing in a single step without generating chips. This research investigates the threedimensional (3D) finite element modeling (FEM) of large plastic strain and hightemperature work-material deformation in friction drilling. The explicit FEM code with temperature-dependent mechanical and thermal properties, ...
